Hardeeville, SC – March 8, 2016-The Beaufort-Jasper Water & Sewer Authority has contracted with Coastal Carolina Medical Associates, a department of Coastal Carolina Hospital, to provide wellness and medical services for its employees.
“We are glad to work with local companies to provide wellness and medical services for their employees,” said Ryan Lee, Associate Administrator at Coastal Carolina Hospital.
Lee said the hospital’s primary care clinic, Coastal Carolina Medical Associates, will provide employment physicals, return to work screenings, vaccines and drug screens for employees at BJWSA. In addition, the hospital will offer other resources such as speakers for company wellness seminars and participate in company health fairs.
“Our goal is to ensure our employees have access to quality healthcare services. Coastal Carolina Hospital and its primary care facilities will be a great resource for us and will help us to build and sustain a healthy workforce,” said xxxxx, (title) at Beaufort-Jasper Water & Sewer Authority. “Through its primary care office, our employees will be able to have physicals and screenings completed, and receive wellness information.
Coastal Carolina Hospital, which is an American Heart Association Fit Friendly Worksite, prides itself on helping local companies achieve a healthy workforce, Lee said. “We not only want to make sure local companies use us as a resource for necessary work-related medical checks, but also as resource for wellness related activities designed to educate and encourage their employees to lead healthy lives,” he said.
According to the American Heart Association, American employers are losing an estimated $225.8 billion a year because of healthcare expenses and health-related losses in productivity, and those numbers are rising. Many American adults spend most of their waking hours at sedentary jobs. Their lack of regular physical activity raises their risk for a host of medical problems, such as obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes. Employers face $12.7 billion in annual medical expenses due to obesity alone.
